Mid Data Scientist

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join an international technology hub based in Lisbon, supporting analytical and machine learning initiatives for the technology and professional services sector. This hybrid opportunity is suited to a Data Scientist who can transform complex data into reliable models, clear insights and measurable business value.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, opportunities and risks that support business decisions.
- Design, build, validate and optimize supervised and unsupervised machine learning models.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model tuning and performance evaluation.
- Collaborate with data, engineering and business teams to integrate analytical outputs into practical solutions.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support the model lifecycle through experimentation, versioning, documentation and deployment readiness.
- Ensure analytical quality, reliability and responsible utilization of data and models.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in data science environments.
- Experience building and deploying production-level analytical or machine learning models.
- Strong analytical reasoning, structured problem-solving and ownership of the full analytical lifecycle.
- Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to different audiences.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work across multiple data teams.
- Adaptability to changing data, requirements and project priorities.
- Professional working proficiency in English.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Python, including NumPy, pandas and scikit-learn.
- Exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and statistical analysis.
- Statistics and probability, including hypothesis testing, inference and distributions.
- Supervised and unsupervised machine learning models.
- Model evaluation, validation strategies, cross-validation, metrics and overfitting control.
- SQL for data querying and analysis.
- ML experimentation tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases or Databricks ML.
- Data visualization with Matplotlib, Seaborn or Plotly.
- BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- MLOps fundamentals, including model registry, versioning and deployment lifecycle.

NICE TO HAVE

- Basic knowledge of PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Familiarity with cloud machine learning platforms such as Azure ML, AWS SageMaker or Google Cloud Vertex AI.

COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY

Base salary range: EUR 22,000 - EUR 28,000 gross/year
Total compensation: up to EUR 34,000/year
The salary range is based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including required competencies, professional experience, level of responsibility and role requirements. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate's profile and position requirements.
