SQL Database Administrator

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join an international technology environment supporting the banking sector, with responsibility for maintaining and improving critical database platforms. Based in Lisbon with a hybrid working model, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure database reliability, strengthen operational performance and contribute to the evolution of data infrastructure.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Administer and maintain SQL Server and other database platforms, ensuring availability, stability and operational continuity.
- Investigate database incidents, coordinate corrective actions and implement controlled changes in production environments.
- Analyze database performance, optimize queries and recommend improvements to application and infrastructure teams.
- Participate in the technical assessment and implementation of database architectures for business and infrastructure initiatives.
- Support database upgrades, version management and technology lifecycle planning.
- Maintain documentation for database security, monitoring, backup and recovery processes.
- Coordinate with development, production, infrastructure and security teams to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Apply DevOps practices and established infrastructure, operational and security standards.
- Assess emerging database technologies and identify opportunities for technical optimization and modernization.
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and provide support during critical production interventions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 6 to 9 years of professional experience in database administration within complex IT environments.
- Strong experience managing SQL Server and working with heterogeneous database technologies.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritize operational activities and resolve complex technical issues.
- Experience contributing to database architecture decisions and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to incident resolution, risk management and service reliability.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with international and cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to operational quality, technical documentation and continuous improvement.
- Availability for weekly on-call duties and critical operational interventions.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Microsoft SQL Server administration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Database technologies including MongoDB, SingleStore, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- SQL query analysis and database performance optimization.
- Relational and NoSQL database architecture concepts.
- Database monitoring, availability and operational continuity.
- Backup, restoration and recovery procedures.
- Database security and access management practices.
- Incident and change management in production environments.
- Database upgrades, version management and technology lifecycle management.
- DevOps principles and operational standardization.

NICE TO HAVE
- Familiarity with cloud database environments and related architecture concepts.
- Knowledge of Big Data technologies and emerging database infrastructure approaches.
