ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Senior Big Data Engineer to join an international data engineering team in the financial services sector. This hybrid opportunity is based in Lisbon and involves working closely with distributed teams to build, maintain and improve scalable data solutions using modern big data technologies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, develop and maintain big data solutions using Spark, Python, Hadoop, Hive and SQL.
- Work with distributed teams to deliver reliable and scalable data engineering solutions.
- Support software development activities across the data engineering lifecycle.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations using APIs and Kafka.
- Apply CI/CD practices to improve delivery quality and automation.
- Use source code management practices with Git.
- Support build, deployment and scheduling activities using enterprise tooling.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and improve data processing performance.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with international teams with autonomy, organisation and prioritisation.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in data engineering, big data engineering or similar roles.
- Strong experience with Spark, Python, Hadoop, Hive and SQL.
- Solid experience in software development and CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts and delivery automation.
- Ability to work in an international and distributed team.
- Professional working proficiency in English at B2 level or above.
- Positive, collaborative and proactive mindset.
- Autonomy, organisation and ability to prioritise work effectively.
- Willingness to learn, share knowledge and contribute with innovative thinking.

COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY
Base salary range: EUR 22 000 - EUR 32 000 gross/year
Total compensation: up to EUR 40 000/year
The salary range is based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including required competencies, professional experience, level of responsibility and role requirements. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate's profile and position requirements.
