Software Engineer

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support an extension team in a hybrid model in the Porto/Maia area, within a technology-driven environment focused on AI-enabled software engineering. This opportunity is for a client in the technology sector and involves designing, implementing and improving full-stack solutions that integrate AI across the Software Development Life Cycle.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Design, implement and evolve software engineering solutions that apply AI to improve productivity, quality and delivery across the SDLC.
- Build and integrate AI agents and developer tooling into engineering workflows, from discovery and architecture to deployment, monitoring and production support.
- Contribute to technical architecture decisions, ensuring robustness, governance, security and compliance in AI-enabled development practices.
- Support engineering teams in the adoption and responsible utilization of AI tools for code development, review, testing and documentation.
- Define and promote engineering standards, design patterns, testing practices and technical documentation to improve consistency and maintainability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, product stakeholders and non-technical audiences to translate business needs into pragmatic technical solutions.
- Act as a senior technical reference, supporting code reviews, mentoring, technical decision-making and resolution of complex engineering challenges.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Higher education in Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing production software for scalable and high-availability systems.
- Strong end-to-end understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring and production support.
- Proven experience in full-stack development, with the ability to adapt across backend and frontend technologies.
- Solid DevOps mindset, with experience supporting automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
- Strong interest in AI applied to software engineering, developer productivity and engineering quality.
- Ability to guide engineering teams, support technical decisions and mentor professionals with different experience levels.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, with a collaborative, responsible and solution-oriented approach.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Backend development with technologies such as .NET, Node.js or equivalent stacks.
- Frontend development with technologies such as React, TypeScript or equivalent frameworks.
- Software Development Life Cycle practices and end-to-end software delivery.
- CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or equivalent platforms.
- Infrastructure as Code and automation of build, test and release processes.
- AI coding assistants and developer agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalent tools.
- Software architecture, design patterns and scalable system design.
- Testing practices, including unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
- Technical documentation, code quality practices and code review processes.
- Security, governance and compliance considerations in AI-enabled software development.

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with AI/ML ecosystems applied to developer tooling or software engineering productivity.
- Experience assessing frameworks, SDKs and low-code or no-code platforms in software delivery contexts.
- Awareness of AI governance, information security or cybersecurity best practices.

COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY

Base salary range: EUR 14,000 - EUR 36,000 gross/year
Total compensation: up to EUR 43,000/year
The salary range is based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including required competencies, professional experience, level of responsibility and role requirements. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate's profile and position requirements.
