ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Senior Quality Automation Engineer to support a hybrid opportunity in Lisbon within the banking sector. This role focuses on designing, implementing and continuously improving automated test strategies across microservices, APIs, messaging, databases, web applications and CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on quality, collaboration and delivery impact.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Design and implement integration tests across microservices, MongoDB and Kafka.
- Build and maintain REST API test suites covering functional, negative, boundary and error-handling scenarios.
- Apply BDD practices using Karate, Cucumber and Gherkin for API and integration testing.
- Implement consumer-provider contract tests using tools such as Pact.
- Develop and maintain UI automation tests for Angular web applications.
- Automate web testing using Java with Selenium WebDriver and Playwright with TypeScript.
- Support mobile and hybrid automation scenarios using Appium when applicable.
- Integrate integration, API, BDD, UI and contract test suites into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Design and manage test data strategies for MongoDB and Kafka.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to execute automated tests in Kubernetes and Docker environments.
- Promote quality best practices and support BDD adoption across development and business teams.
- Translate business requirements into clear, objective and testable scenarios.
- Identify edge cases, failure scenarios and improvement opportunities across the test strategy.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 5 to 10 years of experience in quality engineering, test automation or software testing.
- Solid experience in integration testing for microservices and distributed systems.
- Strong experience in REST API testing and automated test design.
- Experience working in Agile environments across the SDLC and STLC.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including development, DevOps and business stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset in improving processes, tools and test automation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify risks, defects and quality gaps.
- Professional working proficiency in English.

COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY

Base salary range: EUR 17,000 - EUR 23,000 gross/year
Total compensation: up to EUR 36,000/year
The salary range is based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including required competencies, professional experience, level of responsibility and role requirements. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate's profile and position requirements.
